How to use push-on fittings!
Frequently Asked Questions Handy Hints and Tips Instruction Manuals & DIY
WHALE push-on fittings and semi rigid pipe for Caravan and Motorhome plumbing installations.
Both are compatible and may be substituted. Both 12mm and 15mm pipe diameters and fittings are available with various connections and adapters to allow fitting screw-on taps and appliances.
May be used for hot and cold water.
Step 1 - Prepare the connection
Cut the pipe square ensuring it is free of score marks. Cut the pipe square ensuring it is free of score marks. For soft or thin walled plastic pipe we recommend the use of a tube insert or pipe insert. RED and BLUE 12mm and 15mm pipe sold at Caravans Plus does NOT require the tube insert ends.

With the fitting clean and undamaged and the pipe cut square, you are now ready to make the connection.

Do not insert fingers into the fitting as the stainless steel teeth may cause injury.

Step 2 - Assemble the connection
Connecting standard 12mm Push-on or 15mm push-on fittings

Push the pipe into the fitting, to the pipe stop.

Push the pipe into the fitting, to the pipe stop. The collet (gripper) has stainless steel teeth which hold the pipe firmly in position whilst the 'O' Ring provides a permanent leak proof seal.

An optional LOCKING CLIP (shown red) and COLLET COVER) is available to ensure the fitting will not part in extreme conditions.

The cover is placed on the pipe prior to joining. After pipe is in the fitting the red clip in pushed into the gap, and the snap fitting cover makes a tidy and 100% secure fitting.

Ensure system is depressurised before removing fittings. Push in the collet against the face of the fitting.

With the collet held in this position the pipe can be removed. The fitting can then be re-used.
