THE KINCRAIG DEVELOPMENT
The Kincraig Development

Makers of caravans are not immediately concerned about where their products will be parked once they are sold, but they can be grieved to see them in a squalid, unkempt caravan site.
The purchase by Thomson Caravans Ltd of 202 acres of a farm offered for sale near Elie, Fife , was at once an act of faith, an object lesson in building a model site, and a very expensive operation.
The land at Kincraig and Shell Bay is partly arable, with a rocky escarpment and a large stretch of sand dunes. Some £60,000 has been invested in a park for 75 touring caravans on the terraced hillside.
The site is separate from the development of the holiday village on the foreshore. The first phase is for 400 units, static holiday and touring caravans, the sites to be let to individuals. These will be on Shell Bay .
The second phase, on the rising ground between the bay and Kincraig, is for 1,400fully-equipped chalets, a self-contained complex with various shops, restaurants, bars and recreation rooms.
The complete development, scheduled for operation by the mid-seventies, will mean an investment of about £200,000. .
